Oregon Steelhead Fly Fishing Guides

The Deschutes River is undoubtedly one of the finest Steelhead Fly Fishing Destinations on Planet earth. Tens of thousands of Native Steelhead return to the high-desert canyon each year and those wild fish are supplemented by robust numbers of hatchery-introduced fish. What makes the Deschutes special is the willingness of its steelhead to rise to the swung fly. There is no need for indicator fishing here. Cast your traditional hairwing pattern 45 degrees downstream and let it swing. There is no mistaking the grab of a Deschutes steelhead that just moved 10 feet to slam your Max Canyon and is now headed back to the ocean screaming line of your real. People like to say "The Tug is the Drug" and well...you'll need to find out for yourself, but we certainly agree.
Day Trip

Oregon Fly Fishing Day-Trips

These are great floats that give you plenty of access to trout and steelhead (in season). Included is a boat ride through a breathtaking canyon where wildlife abounds, streamside BBQ, Flies, Rods, Reels and a good introduction to what the Deschutes has to offer! It doesn’t matter if you are a pro or a beginner your guide can put you on fish and maximize your fishing opportunities for the day! If you are in fact a beginner what better way to learn the sometimes intimidating knots, casts, flys and water that ultimately bring fish to hand than with a guide who has devoted his life to the sport and the Deschutes river? If your kids are at camp at Mt.hood or your wife is at the sisters quilt show this is a good way to "get away!"

The Overnighter Experience
This is THE trip to experience the Lower Deschutes in all its famed glory. With limited road access in the Deschutes canyon, the fishing pressure is considerably less, the fish more eager and the solitude all the more precious. Throw in some whitewater, wildlife and great food.....This is the trip on the lower Deschutes!

Immerse yourself in a world where cell phones don’t exist, traffic and work are far away! Relax in the front of the boat watching blue herrons stalk fish in the shallows, Golden eagles riding thermals, Osprey diving in eddies for their next meal while wild horses graze on grasses along the stream bank! Oh yea keep your eyes out for rising trout as well!

Our camp host pushes downriver while we fish and has everything ready with dinner started when we get to it. We have 10x10 Montana canvas tents that give you plenty of room for you, your cot, and your gear. Mix that with our gourmet kitchen and wall tent to dine in if the weather or wind pick up and you have yourself a streamside Hilton! Wake up put your waders on and fish while we get breakfast ready. All is inclusive on these trips, food (breakfast, lunch and dinner), cots, rods and reels (if you don't have them), water, soft drinks, snacks-- EVEN FLYS! (although it’s illegal for us to provide alcohol, you are more than welcome to bring it yourself.)

All of our trips are operated out of drift boats that allow us access to otherwise unaccessible water in the Deschutes canyon. Toss in some class three and four rapids and even whitewater junkies have a great time down here!
