Caddis Season is fast approaching

The Salmonfly hatch has come and gone for another season, but there's still plenty to look forward to on the water. As temperatures continue to climb and summer settles in, anglers should begin seeing increasingly strong caddis activity throughout the river system.

Recent warm weather has accelerated insect development, and evening caddis hatches are expected to improve over the coming weeks. Fish are already beginning to key in on emerging caddis, especially during the last few hours of daylight. Anglers should keep a variety of adult caddis patterns, emergers, and soft hackles close at hand.

While the excitement of the Salmonfly hatch is behind us, the transition into caddis season often provides some of the most consistent dry-fly fishing of the summer. Look for rising fish in riffles, tailouts, and softer edges during evening hatch periods.

With hot weather in the forecast and favorable river conditions, prospects for quality caddis fishing look excellent in the weeks ahead.
